XNA Game Express: my first two projects

I’ve got two of my own XNA projects running on our Xbox 360 Creators Club. They aren’t much to look at as the screenshots above and below show, but they are a start.

I’ve got a very rudimentary understanding of how to do the following:
- a simple collage background based on photoshopped images
- take input from the gamepads
- process text to the screen
- update score
- trigger sound events and add custom sound to the content pipeline

My second project doesn’t look like much yet (below, black screen, white score text) but the sounds make me think it would be good for an alien game. I’ll have to get video or audio of it for the next update.

XNA Game Studio Express launched

Filed under: XNA, Xbox 360 — TDavid @ 11:43 am

As I noted earlier today at my daily updated blog, MakeYouGoHmm, the XNA Game Studio Express has officially been launched. I’m signed up to the Creators Club for a year and have already tested the Spacewar game.

I’m going to be blogging details of my experiences under the hood of the XNA Game Studio Express as well as (finally) having a dedicated place for writing about Windows desktop applications.
